64: LotR & Wandering
We started the morning with a hike up to a specific area of Mount Victoria where part of The Lord of the Rings (LotR) was filmed. I think I am starting to like hikes a little. Not a lot, but a little. I still don't like steep hills for sure! Anyways, maybe you'll recognize this scene?
Its the scene were the hobbits had to get off the road! They also labeled the trail as the "Hobbit's Hideout". Cool!
After the hike, we walked down to the Visitor Centre to wait for our tour bus to Upper Hutt area. Along with several other LotR fans, we visited several locations where the movie was filmed at.
At Hutt River, we saw ponies and miniature ones as well! My first time seeing them in real life. They were so cute!
After, our group went to Rivendell for lunch. Nothing like having sandwiches at a park! We got introduced the area and how it was filmed.
It's cool seeing all the behind-the-scene stuff and learning how the sets were made.
We are also given some free time to wander/hike around, so we walked on a swing bridge!
We headed back to the city and wandered a little bit of Wellington CBD. We got some takeaway salad at a store nearby and added some of our leftover chicken. It was a delicious idea!
We repacked our bags and got ready for our ferry ride in the morning! We're heading to Christchurch tomorrow!
PS. Here's a cool ad that I saw on the street. I thought it was very well done. Eggs and milk!
