65 & 66: To and In Christchurch
On day 65, we left around 7:40am this morning for our ferry at 9am. The recommended time was 45min before departure! So we took the bus and walked to the ferry. It would be our third time on the ferry. We realized that we needed to sit at the lookout spot where we see the horizon so that we wouldn't feel sea sick.
We played more Rummy on the ferry and actually felt alright. I think the Powerade, Ginger Beer and the sight of the horizon helped me.
We got to the ferry terminal and gathered our luggage for the bus ride to Christchurch. Midway, we got off at Kaikora for a pit stop. It was gorgeous! Too bad our timing didn't work, but we would have loved to stay in Kaikora for the whale watching! Here were done quick snaps!
From 9am to 7pm, that's 10 hours of commuting, but we made it safe and sound to Christchurch! We checked into the hotel that I got cheaper than a few hostels nearby. It was so high tech and simple. I like it!
We had dinner at a pizzeria recommended by one of the local Ingress players, called CBD bar. It was delicious!
On day 66, yesterday, we walked around Christchurch to see some of the rebuild areas. We noticed everywhere had cool murals and sculptures.
It was nice to meet up with Ingress players to have lunch and also visit Kaiapoi, just north of Christchurch. We roamed around doing Ingress stuff. We learned about red zones of earthquake areas which were deemed uninhabitable.
After a few hours, we headed back into Christchurch and Keri and I had dinner. I wasn't feeling so well, might be a cold or flu. I'm feeling under the weather and sneezing a bit. So I had some Korean cold buckwheat noodles from nearby.
Anyways, hopefully I feel better tomorrow!
