46.5: Proserpine to Bowen

So we arrived at the Whitsundays Coast Airport. It was a small airport similar to Siem Reap International Airport, which means they do mainly small flights.

TigerAir seemed pretty cool. They have music playing before and after the flight. Also, they play prerecorded clips of safety instructions and protocols which was nice. I still appreciated the double door boarding of the airplane, so efficient! They seemed to have everything under control. So far so good!

We went through Proserpine and stopped by the IGA supermarket for cooked chicken. There is no such thing as ketchup here, its tomato sauce!

We also learned a lot about the farming here. They produce a lot of sugar here. There's even a sugar mill!

On our way to Bowen, we saw camels used for tourists in nearby areas. Airlie Beach is a known tourist stop, but not as busy as Cairns. We're heading there on Tuesday for a Great Barrier Reef day trip! That should be fun!

We finally got to Keri's aunt's place in Bowen and had lunch. She made some chicken layered chips dish. It was cool. Tasted alright! We caught up on the surrounding culture and demographic around the area with his aunt and uncle.

Afterwards, as we both didn't get much sleep last night, Keri and I had a nap after lunch. I don't think it helped much, but I appreciated a bed to sleep on.

When we woke up, we did a bit of research on Bowen. We got Keri's aunt set up on Skype which would make it easier to connect with relatives. And we had breakfast for dinner!

After dinner, we watched a bit of television. We got caught up on the last couple of minutes of the final rugby game between New Zealand and Australia. I definitely learned to appreciate rugby since this trip. The players and strategy is intense.

By the way, Bowen has around 10,000 residents. So it is quite small! It's definitely a different life bouncing from different towns, shires and cities.

Well, tomorrow we're wandering around Bowen! So till next post!
