33: Temple Day 3: Angkor & Waterfall

So by day 3 of temples, we've been to like 10+ big and small temples combined. Our Tuk Tuk driver had an insane knowledge and good recommendation on when to do temples. We sure made good usage of our $40 USD, 3-day passes into the Angkor areas.

We started early to Bantray Srei, which is much further than Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. It was a nice short temple to see.

We also stopped by Phnom Kbal Spean, which was a 1500m hike to see ruin remains and sleeping buddha covered by stream of water. It was exhausting and well worth it because there was also a tiny waterfall that you can check out. It was a tough time for me to decide if I wanted to go under the fall, or not. But I did it anyways. I'd never have thought I'd experience the feeling of going under the waterfall and the bottom of the pit. Let's just say, its once in a lifetime, I experienced it!

We also ate at Borey Sovann which was near the waterfall place. We had delicious tom yum soup with rice. Its smart to order soup based stuff to guarantee that your food has been boiled. The travel tip for food is always peel it, boil it, or forget about it.

We went to another small temple (no sign unfortunately). And then we headed back to our place. We had dinner with our hosts and caught up with them. They were quite friendly! Also, got a few more things at the night market... Helps if you're Asian cause they know you'll barter or will start a low price. And then back to the home!

Tips for Temples: local people will try and sell you on stuff for sure. They won't give up on hassling you on prices and products. The guidebook that they'll try and sell you can be obtained from people near Angkor Wat for $1 USD (or I heard them haggle to that low).

Long day ahead! Grats to politics and Jays back in Canada! And off to pack up and get ready for flight to Perth, Australia.
