28.5: Tokyo & boarding! Sayonara!

So we've packed up, cleaned up and left things as they were in the apartment.

As scheduled, we caught our local version of the train. There are many lines on our Odakyu train network, such as ones that go to all local stops, express stops, rapid express and semi-sectional express. We caught the local because I knew we'd guarantee a seat on the train. During rush hour, everyone (business wo/men, school teenagers, housewives and etc) all flood into any of the train lines other than local. For an extra 20 minutes and a guaranteed seat, we took it.

We took our train to Shinjuku Station instead of any of the recommended Google Map routes. We knew based on Tiffany's departure that there was an Airport Express train on the JR line instead of riding to other stations and taking a bus. The airport express was nice and fast.

To be honest, I think I left a part of my heart in Japan. Not because of Shin-yurigaoka or Yoyogi-uehara which became my two favourite stops on our train line home, but because of the culture. The etiquette, tradition, shrines, temple, history, food, fashion, and more!

I can't say I've visited Japan to the full extent as I've only touched the tip of the iceberg, Tokyo. However, I can say I've visited like a local and experienced how they go about daily. I can say I've had my one shrine a day experience. I can say I've experienced packed trains with train cars filled to the doors and being pushed in (unlike TTC). I can say I've bowed or nodded once a day as part of Japan's etiquette. There's so much that I can list, I can't type it all.

No one is ever lost, they're only wanderers; I wonder where I have heard that from?

Would I recommend going to Japan? Of course! To those thinking of going or had it on your bucket list, satisfy your wanderlust for Japan and embrace yourself in their daily lives. I wish you good luck and safe travels!

Boarding onto the plane we go!
