27: Roppongi Hills, Cinema, Packing
As mentioned in my How-To post earlier, Keri and I sent a bunch of our stuff via slow, cheap boat method with Japan Post. Even though there's language barriers at the post office, we managed to get things done with the help of Google Translate and having photos of what we wanted.
Afterwards, we went to Roppongi Hills and looked around the area. We saw the Maman sculpture by Louise Bourgeois, which was a large spider of 30ft high and 33ft wide. Insane!
We also saw a movie at Toho Cinema. We wanted to see The Intern and luckily we had a chance to see it in Japan (as it just came out). It's interesting to see the delay in Western movies as some of them weren't available yet like The Monuments Men (called something "Michaelangelo Project" in Japan). It definitely felt like a feel good movie with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro. For a split second, I thought I was back in Canada.
After watching a 2 hour English movie with Japanese subtitles, there was a slight culture shock after leaving the theater. Even though there was no subtitles for the credits, most people stayed. Also, people carried their trays out with garbage and everyone started speaking in Japanese as usual.
We headed back home to Tsurukawa Station and ate ramen for dinner nearby. Thought it was obligatory for the last delicious meal for the night.
Time for packing and cleaning up. Tip: Always leave your Airbnb place how you found it. I prefer cleaning up as best as I can as if it was day one.
Less than 24 hours to go till layover in Hong Kong and dinner with my relatives in Tung Chung (near the Ngong Ping Cable Cars to the Buddha). And 1 day left before Cambodia!
