11 & 12: Mid-Autumn & Sham Shui Po
Happy belated Mid-Autumn Festival!
On day 11, we walked with some of my family to IKEA first and browsed a few shopping centres before heading for dinner for the evening.
Keri and I spent our first Hong Kong Mid-Autumn Festival with my relatives! It involved tons of glow sticks. I mean, tons. Apart from Day 10, where there were glow sticks with my cousins.. Day 11, we played with them outside in the public. There were more glow sticks from other kids! Must be some phenomenon here, I don't recall doing glow sticks for the festival in Canada. But we did see lanterns! Tons of them, for sale and for use! Much more than you can see in Toronto!
On Day 12, my Aunt Jenny and Uncle Ming brought us to Sham Shui Po, which is known for tons of cheap stuff. And by cheap, I mean like wholesale from China cheap.
We bought Micro-USB cords cause we run through them like crazy. We got them for $19 HKD! Insane! That's like $3 CAD! So, we grabbed like 6 and we're bringing 3 of them on our trip and shipping the rest back with our other stuff.
We went back to Broadview Court to pack our bags a bit more, and then went over to my grandmother's for dinner. We watched Paddington in Chinese, which was interesting (seeing their translations). Also had a few photos taken before we left.
We also met a few Ingress players on the street as we were about to head home, which was kind of cool! We talked a bit about mission artwork and then headed home by bus!
Since our trip is for three months, my aunt is shipping back my Hong Kong and possibly my Japan stuff during our layover if we see her. She usually ships it by boat cause its cheap but also, it works with our itinerary. By boat, it'll get to Toronto in one month. We'll still be traveling.
Tomorrow, we have a half day-ish before we fly out to Tokyo with our dear friend, Tiffery! So much excitement! I can't believe our Hong Kong trip is coming to a close. Time for Japan in less than 24 hours! ✈
PS. Insane breakfast with my aunt and uncle. So much food?
