60: Picton to Wellington
Today we're heading back to Wellington! I know its a bit of a back track, but it was worth seeing Nelson and Carey & John!
We packed up the car and headed to the Nelson bus terminal for our ride to the Picton Ferry Terminal. John dropped us off and went our separate ways.
Our coach bus headed a different route than what Carey drove into Nelson from Picton. We ended up heading towards Blenheim which was where Keri's mom grew up at. The bus then drove up to Picton.
We were early for the Picton Ferry terminal by 2 hours, but we were able to check out bags in. We went into Picton area for some brunch. We ate the "Kiwi Big Breakfast" at Seabreeze Cafe & Bar. It was somewhat big enough for two people!
We walked along the Picton Lakefront and experienced the public bathrooms. Yes, they spoke to you! It was quite nice with their lock, toilet flush and wash system. And then we walked all the way to the Ferry Terminal and waited a bit for the ferry.
We boarded the ferry and got a comfy spot for two people. Its better to board early so that you can get those comfy table seats. The last thing you want is sitting on the floor, unless its near a wall socket.
Our ferry was pretty choppy today. It kept swaying back and forth and I was almost feeling it today. I don't usually get seasick but it almost made me feel it. Keri and I played Rummy again. I don't think the game gets old yet.
After around three hours of the ferry, we headed off the boat and grabbed our bags. We headed on the shuttle bus for the Wellington Railway Station. At the station, we purchased their transit card called Snapper! Its so cute! Definitely one of my favorite transit card among the ones I've used.
Since it was raining, we took the bus to our hostel and checked in. Our hostel, The Setup on Dixon, looks like it was a business building and revamped into a living space. I think it was not that bad.
We got Pho at a restaurant nearby and it sure filled up our stomachs. We walked to the New World Grocery store and got some food for the morning. Then, we watched Supergirl and Hunger Games: Catching Fire on TV.
We have a long day ahead tomorrow, Weta Workshop!
