49: Choir of Birds, Shells & Packing
Note: Mostly ranting post about nature haha.
I woke up around 5am this morning. Not because of the sunrise or lack of sleep, but because of birds. They just love having a choir session around that time. All of the different species join in and chirp at that time. Not during later in the afternoon, just mainly that time. And the window doesn't muffle the noise at all.
So after tossing, turning and trying to get back to sleep, I think I managed to fall back to sleep around 6am. Later on, I woke up at 9am. I spent the morning transferring phone contacts for Keri's aunt. Due to issues, I had to type them all up. Luckily I had a laptop to work with and that I type things pretty fast with the number pad.
We went to Kings Beach for seashell hunting for an hour or so. It is very interesting seeing all the shells and the difference between low and high tide. Its hard to find large complete shells that haven't been smashed or has holes in them. We weren't too successful. I definitely learned to like walks on the beach more, only to find shells!
After, we went to the post office. The post offices are privatized here. It feels weird having a post office sell books, toys and wireless communications as its different than Toronto.
I took a nap on the couch after coming home due to my strange sleeping pattern from the birds. It was fairly hot today.. 28°C plus humidity! I basically had to sleep with the fan on.
When I woke up, Keri went with his uncle to bring the dog out for a walk. While I tried to not scare his aunt. She didn't realize that I didn't go out. She managed to bring a full glass of wine to her desk, past the couch, and only to move the fan that was in front of me. Only then did she realize I was there. Silent Asians, I tell you!
I watched some TV and his aunt put dinner on. We had dinner and started repacking out bags. It seems like we have to leave several hours the night before because of laundry and constantly rotating items in it.
Long day ahead tomorrow! We have around 10 hours in the evening for the layover in Brisbane before going to Auckland, the next morning. Not sure if I planned this flight well.. It won't be like Singapore Airport. Maybe we'll head out to the city. Unsure!
All I know is, we're going to start the backpacking half soon when we touch down in Auckland! Cheers!
