40: Sydney & Allawah
Hello, Sydney!
We touched down today at around 8am via domestic flight. I never realized how relaxed it was taking domestic versus international because the luggage was all available to the public in Australia. In Toronto, our domestic flight's luggage are still behind gates, more specifically a Timmies.
Our Airbnb host recommended that we buy an Opal card for the commuting as it was easier then finding cash fare. Also, taking local transit bus would save you a bit then the $15 AUD via the airport train. Our total cost was less than $6!
We rode a bus and train to Hurstville, which felt like Chinatown. It was mainly populated by Chinese people and didn't feel much different than Pacific Mall's food court. We sat at the food court and planned out the next few days with a few landmarks on the transit map.
We went to Allawah Station and checked in with our host at 2pm. It felt like undergrad all over again, which I don't mind! But it makes me miss home a bit. After Cambodia, I don't think I'll critique too much about dirty/cleanliness. Its a nice location for $20 split between Keri and me.
After talking with the host, we crashed cause of the lack of sleep. I think we slept from 4-7pm. We woke up, spoke with our host's roommate who also stayed in Toronto for a year! Its nice to talk to locals.
We walked to Allawah Hotel, across from the station and made it in time for last call food at 9pm. Maybe they just end the kitchen early today, who knows. We had pasta and Keri had a large burger! So much food. And then we headed back to our home.
We've planned on going out to the Zoo tomorrow. So early day ahead. I hope we can get some sleep!
