16: Studio Ghibli & Park
This morning was pretty peaceful. We had a huge storm last night so I didn't realize that the hot water machine was off. It didn't matter, I had gotten used to cold water showers in Hong Kong.
We did laundry this morning and departed for the Ghibli Museum at 9:30am. It was a nice commute and we avoided the rush hour. I'm so glad the bathrooms in Tokyo are much cleaner than Hong Kong.
It only took us around an hour to get to the Museum and boy did I enjoy it! Unfortunately, we weren't allowed taking photos in the museum so I only had outside shots.
But the museum was so awesome. For foreign visitors, specifically Canadians, you have to buy it on a website. Tiffany bought ours and got a receipt which you can change for a ticket. Each ticket came with a framed film which I got Howl's Moving Castle! Its so cute and unique!
We browsed through the gift shop, saw several animator's work station and tons of exhibits. There were tons of storyboard style and frame by frame art sketches too. Definitely a nice behind the scenes look on all the movies and shorts by Studio Ghibli.
We saw a cat bus that kids can ride on. I wanted to ride on it... Too bad.
We walked up to the roof and saw the guardian of Laputa. It was very well done. But the trip isn't complete without food, at the Straw Hat Cafe! Food was decent and it was nice having bar seating as we saw latte art being made.
Afterwards we went to the zoo in the local park nearby, Inokashira Park. It was only 400 yen, but was cheaper with a passport, came to 320 yen per person. They had land animals and an aquatics section on two separate sides of the road. It was a decent park for that price. It also had a sculpture section and a guinea pig letting zoo! Tiff and I held one each on our lap.
We spent around 2 hours and then we left the zoo. We went around the park, saw some temples, did some shopping nearby and headed home for some quick 7-11 take out and crashed early as we have an early wake up!
