Art: Snowflake Competition

Project: Snowflake Competition
Materials Used: Paper, Scissors, Glue
Art Style: Quilling

There was a snowflake competition at work today. Everyone had to contribute their own interpretations of snowflakes. I could have gone with the classic "fold and cut" paper snowflakes from a regular letter sheet of paper. But... I decided for a more complicated route.

I wanted to explore a new form of paper art, Quilling. This art takes a lot of effort as it is mainly composed of strips of paper that is rolled, shaped and glued together to create a design. Here's my first two attempt at my snowflakes. I didn't realize how much time it would consume and these weren't that big of a design.

Although I didn't win the competition at work, I currently now have the snowflakes as a contraption that I can hook or hang onto anywhere!
