68: Re:START Mall, Garden, Museum!
Our hotel was nicely located in the downtown district. We spent the morning in the Re:START mall. Its a combination of stores, art installations, souvenirs and more. The mall was built with shipping containers!
I definitely am falling in love with the variety of wall art, architecture and interior designs that I've seen throughout this trip.
This morning, I went to go browsing around Re:START mall while Keri went to Quake City to learn about earthquakes and Christchurch. We learned about earthquakes from the Te Papa museum and from a museum trip back in San Francisco (February 2015).
It was nice seeing different art installations like #ThatTimeYouHelped. Its a nice installation to highlight people that have helped. Positive vibes!
Afterwards, Keri and I met up and went to the Christchurch Botanical Gardens! I kind of lost count of all the gardens that we've been to since we left in September. But, its so cool seeing the different species and the climate.
We also walked to the Canterbury Museum (free admissions, we donated our spare change). It was a nice museum with a dinosaur exhibit, living Canterbury exhibit, bird exhibit and more. Its nice seeing the bird exhibit and figuring out what birds we saw in Christchurch!
We headed back to the hotel and had food in the lobby. Their Cafe 165 wasn't that bad at all. I got seafood chowder and it was a decent size! We brought our side order of potato wedges upstairs and ate it while watching documentaries and TV episodes.
We repacked our bags and slept. Another early start, this time 7:30am to Queenstown via Mt Cook!
